Affordable Luxury in the University District
This 15-storey, 156-room hotel is LEED certified and contains many sustainable design initiatives.
A green roof and paving materials were chosen to reduce heat island effect as much as possible. Exterior lighting was designed to limit light pollution. This increases night sky access, improves nighttime visibility and reduces the consequences of development for wildlife and people. Water use has also been reduced as much as possible, both indoors and outdoors. The landscaping uses native plants so that it does not require irrigation and low-flow fixtures are installed in the building. The building also utilizes efficient envelope and mechanical systems and each room has its own heat pump. Tiered accessible light and temperature controls in most spaces maximize the comfort of guests. Designed so that all spaces have access to quality views, this hotel is sure to become a highlight of the growing University District.
This is Marco’s fourth ALT Hotel and the second we have constructed in Calgary.
