Convenient, Affordable Luxury for Travelers
This 14-storey, 169-room hotel is connected to the Halifax Stanfield International Airport via a pedway. It provides limited, three-star, service in a modern, chic atmosphere and contains 929 square meters of meeting space divided between eight rooms.
The building has several sustainable features including geothermal heating and cooling, occupant-sensitive lighting, dual-flush toilets, and a white membrane roofing.
A unique aspect of the planning and construction for this project was the concept of a plug and play “room in a box”. Prior to exterior façade close-in Marco hoisted and installed a numbered plywood box in each room, which housed the millwork, wall panels, fixtures, and furniture. On-site mechanical and electrical subcontractors brought the mechanical and electrical systems to a plug-in point within each room and specialized fit-up contractors constructed the interior of each room once the exterior façade was weather tight. This resulted in a lower cost and a shortened on-site time frame.
