I’m very proud to announce that Marco has been named one of Canada’s Best Managed Companies in 2021.
This award, sponsored by Deloitte Private, CIBC, Canadian Business, Smith School of Business, and TMX Group, recognizes leading Canadian-owned and managed businesses with revenues of over $25 million that demonstrate leadership in the areas of strategy, capabilities and innovation, culture and commitment, and financials to achieve sustainable growth.
To say that the past year has been a challenge, would be an understatement. We had to manage our projects in a completely new environment and develop working protocols for our project sites to ensure they remain safe and COVID-19 free. We have asked our employees to lead and be brave in the face of adversity, and I can tell you that I have never been more proud of our team.
Over the past 40+ years of operating in Newfoundland first, then Atlantic Canada and beyond, Marco has learned to be resilient and adapt to adversity. Our core values of Integrity, Teamwork and Commitment have enabled us to adapt to the COVID-19 challenge. We are confident that the experiences and lessons learned will make us stronger and more successful.
We continue to invest in our team by promoting lifelong learning and funding continuing education. We recognize the importance of our team members’ mental wellbeing and offer a full-service employee assistance program to support their health at work, at home, and in life.
We have also recently invested upward of $1 million in Information Technology infrastructure, hardware and software that allows our employees to access information anywhere and anytime using cloud-based servers through tablets, iPads and laptops.
It is these initiatives that have helped us grow to be the largest General Contractor in Atlantic Canada and a trusted partner on P-3 projects in our region.
Although the COVID-19 pandemic will undoubtedly continue to challenge our industry throughout 2021 we are confident that our commitment to our people, the region, and our vision will see us through.
