Recognizing National Long-Term Care Day

On National Long-Term Care Day, Marco Group Limited is proud to recognize the residents, families, caregivers, healthcare professionals, volunteers, and support teams who make long-term care communities places of dignity, compassion, and connection.

Long-term care facilities are more than buildings. They are homes, workplaces, gathering spaces, and places of support. The way these spaces are designed and built has a lasting impact on the comfort of residents, the confidence of families, and the ability of care teams to do their work safely and effectively.

As a general contractor, Marco understands the responsibility that comes with building long-term care environments. These projects require thoughtful planning, strong collaboration, and a clear understanding of how construction decisions affect the people who will live and work in these spaces every day.

Over the years, Marco has been proud to help deliver long-term care projects across Atlantic Canada, including completed facilities such as Pleasant View Towers in St. John’s, Western Long Term Care in Corner Brook,  High-Crest Long Term Care Facility in Springhill and Clarenville Long Term Care Facility in Clarenville.

That experience continues today through long-term care projects currently in progress in Nova Scotia, including Mountain Lea Lodge in Bridgetown, Queen’s Home for Special Care in Liverpool, and Harbour View Haven Long Term Care Facility in Lunenburg.

Each of these projects reflects the evolving needs of long-term care. From secure outdoor spaces and recreation areas to private rooms, household-style layouts, accessible care spaces, and sustainable building systems, these facilities are designed to support residents, families, and care teams for the long term.

Sustainability and long-term performance have also been important considerations in many of Marco’s long-term care projects. Facilities such as Pleasant View Towers and Western Long Term Care incorporated energy-efficient systems and achieved LEED Silver certification, helping reduce environmental impact while supporting operational efficiency over the life of the building.

The projects currently underway continue to build on this experience, with a focus on resident comfort, privacy, accessibility, safety, and resilience. These facilities are being developed to meet the needs of today’s long-term care communities while supporting the people who will rely on them for years to come.

On National Long-Term Care Day, we extend our sincere gratitude to everyone working in long-term care. Your compassion, dedication, and commitment make a meaningful difference in the lives of residents and families every day.

Marco is honoured to play a role in building the spaces that support this important work, and we remain committed to delivering facilities that reflect the care, comfort, and dignity every resident deserves.
